I've noticed Stampington uses one of my cards a lot in advertising their Take Ten issues. I finally captured the image for posterity. The bottom middle image is from my Cat's Pajamas card. Love that Sprinkle! I will eventually load scans of my published work in the gallery but until then, here's a little peak.

Cutting it out helps

I was working on class cards but just didn't like how the little knight was looking I had him on the inside peeking out with the castle in the corner. I ended up cutting up the card and redoing this as a "collage." The silver doodles are my own.

I'm not sure I entirely like it but it's definitely more interesting than the original card.

Love Your Life

I broke out some patterned paper I had been hoarding. It's from Urban Lily. I've hoarded this paper so long, I heard the company is going out of business! Maybe I should keep hoarding it? Won't it be worth something? Nah! I love the colors of this. Stamps by A Muse.

I'll try to get the three photo corners cards I made over the weekend. Actually, I made a total of 12 cards. They are either destined for possible publication, craft fair or heck, just because. I am glad I had some time to use new and OLD paper from the scraps on my desk. Heh!

Heidi Swapp

I should really use those Heidi Swapp photo corners Sandy of Monkey Love sent me recently. They are the most beautiful combination of orange and pink. I love the color orange but sometimes when I work with it...it's too orange! I think splashes of pink and lime green really makes it pop. Okay, that's my goal this weekend. USE WHAT I HAVE. No more crafty shopping for a while.

Lyndsay sent me this picture of us with HS at CHA recently. I uploaded it and a few others here in my gallery.

Maybe one day, I'll be able to download the pictures from my camera! I have about 60 pictures from CHA, class boards and other assorted goodies. But getting my darn camera to work with the computer has been a major hassel.

I'm starting to make cards for the craft fair (which I have yet to hear from...eek!). I made 11 of these last night (sending one for possible publication). All stamps by A Muse, paper by Paper Fever, ProvoCraft. Unknown brad, flower. Offray ribbon. Design by SLD.

I'm just way too excited by buying the McGill 2" reach double ribbon punch! I got it this weekend (along with way too many things of ribbon at Ms). Ribbon is $1 for the dots, checks, dashes ribbon and their older style ribbon is on clearance for $1 as well.

Ribbon Nut

Oooh, my Maya Road ribbon came! Pretty. I can already feel myself starting to hoard and I haven't even gotten these home yet to their new ribbon home! Uh...Sandy told me five more types are on their way. Oh dear, I have to use these before I order more!

Halloween in March?

I was working on Halloween submissions yesterday. I didn't feel particularly spooky but hopefully, my submissions will show the sweeter side of Halloween. Mmm, candy.

Okay, really, here's a pic. I can't have too many pictureless posts! :) It's a birthday card for my buddy Geoff who turned "26" this week (yeah, let's just add another 10 years to that). Hahah.

Stamping ADD

Seriously, I have stamping ADD. In the middle of working on a paper bag book for my March SSS DT project, I started to glue envelopes together to make an envelope book. That was something I wanted to do for February. Next thing I know, I start making this 8X8 "layout" and a card. Oh, and then I made 10 cards for the TSS defintions call. Um, yeah! But it works for me. My poor desk is a mess right now. But the good thing from doing the layout is I finally EZ-Mounted the tiny DF stamps.

I'm excited that I got a pair of Tonic fabric scissors for 50% off yesterday. I stopped in to get a paper trimmer (I had a coupon). I debated whether or not to buy a super duper one to bring with me to classes or just a portable one. I decided that I wasn't going to use it very much so it didn't matter hence buying the Fiskars at Js.

I have a ton of Maya Road ribbon coming in. I'm excited! I'm such a ribbon nut right now.

Monkey Love

What a cool article about Sandy's store, Monkey Love!

I saw yesterday about how companies have been advertising their products by stamping pillow cases and other stampable surfaces in hotel rooms. I should find that article. I am constantly fascinated by stuff like that.

I've been working on the website (hopefully, it'll be up by the end of the month), SSS DT stuff, classes and now I'm considering applying for a local craft fair. I'm not entirely sure why I'm considering it since it'll be a lot of work. I'll have to bring a good assortment of cards to sell (maybe 100?). I still have a lot of bookmarks and shrink plastic pins left from my last craft fair. If I really had time, I'd also make marble coasters. The craft fair isn't until 5/13 so I do have time. Although, who is to say if I will actually be accepted.

I just mailed out what will probably be the last stamping swap I'm hosting for the year. Oh wait, I did schedule myself to host a rolodex swap in September. I took a break from swaps from April until September of last year and I found that was really helpful in terms of giving myself enough time to pursue other stampy goals (publications, DTs, teaching). So, I think I'm going to call it my annual vacation from swaps.

I'm trying to figure out my next stampy vacation. I usually go in May to some convention or another. I loved the Puyullup one I went to but now I'm thinking maybe I should wait until August to attend the Ft. Collins one. I would love to go to Portland (OR) or Boston but I don't think they have conventions in May. I am attending the Mesa (AZ) one in November to give a demonstration for SunSpirit Studio. Ahhh, I better get started on my samples for the booth.

I have to post the samples for my Ventura classes (4/15) so I'll do that in the next post. I'm visiting Violet's this Saturday to check out the classroom space.

Graduation

Oh my goodness, my brother has one more quarter to go. Then he graduates college. Where does the time go? I remember when we were still kids fighting all the time. I realized a couple of months ago he's an actual adult. And we get along now. Wow, it's mind-boggling.

Kicking Back

I'm going to kick back this weekend. Maybe try to organize my stamping corner (uh, really, it's not just a corner). I made three cards last night. Here's one of them. It's the kind of card I would send to my best friend. I feel like I haven't talked to her in a long time. Things kind of changed when she got married and she then had a baby last Fall. How does one

...pare down a collection?

It took me a long time to get over my pack rat mentality. I save everything. But I am out of room. I was out of room two years ago. I'm trying to reclaim what was once just a pencil box of stamps on my desk. It's turned into 11 Iris carts and other misc. storage containers. Boxes of supplies everywhere. And there are two desks now. In case one desk gets so messy, I have to use the other one. Heck, sometimes, I stamp on my bed or on the floor!

So, I am taking the plunge, I'm getting rid of stamps I actually still like. And magazines. And ink pads. Here are the stamps I'm selling. Email me at heystamplady at yahoo DOT com if you want the prices. I didn't add any pricing to the stuff I uploaded today. I'm also selling all my Adirondack pads. You can look up the colors at Ranger. I'm selling them all for $3 each except for the pitch black (I'm keeping that- I need lots of black dye ink pads, apparently :). The pads are still very juicy. Red Dot Sale

I'm developing my mother's and father's day cards for my class at SOC9 next month. I came up with this silly card in my mad stamping session yesterday. I like it but you have to understand I'm the ultimate handbag queen. I just love the feeling of finding the cutest purse for a fraction of the cost. Gotta look for those red dots!

Making feminine mom cards is a bit easier for me. I have a couple of good ideas for dad cards so I have to keep working on it. I'm looking forward a good weekend of stamping.

I'm thinking about attending the local LA chapter of the Church of Craft on Sunday. They are mainly knitters and fiber artists. I'm feeling shy about going. There's a new leader for the group so we'll see.

Here's one of my favorite projects for SSS I did last month.

You are my funny little Valentine

These were the 6 cards I taught right before I left for CHA. It was a madhouse trying to get non-stampers how to properly use all the tools and supplies. From this experience, I started pre-punching items. It made my last two classes so much easier. And faster too! I might start pre-cutting ribbon as well. I don't really mind weirdly sized ribbon, I'll find a way to use the bits and pieces later but I rather not if I don't have to.

Storage and more rubber ramble

I'm trying to figure out how to make my space work better for me. I need more storage! I put all my Queen & Co brads and things into watchmaker tins last night. I feel I'm on my way to being more organized already.

There's so much buzz about the tins at Target. I should go over and take a look but I like my watchmaker tins. And if I ever find a way to move the toolchest of drawers and stuff full of embellishments I would be a happy camper.

I decided to sell off old stamps and magazines. It's getting to the point of "I still like everything but I don't use it." So, it's time to get rid of it.

I'm going to test out my old eyelets to see if any of them work with my new Silent Setter. I found it worked with SU eyelets but not the Making Memories ones I have. I have so many random brands that I'm just going to have to go eyelet crazy. I still like the even, clean look of hammering the eyelets down myself with my special tool but the Silent Setter is pretty easy and "hard to believe" fun!

CHA Planning

I'm still trying to figure out my flight to Vegas. Now that I want to fly one way and drive back with friends, the logistics are daunting. I have a workshop on the 29th so I'm thinking of running it 12-2 or 1-3. Then I can take a 7 p.m. flight out. I would ideally fly out of Ontario or LAX. Or even Burbank. The problem is, I would like to have someone take me to the aiport. The shuttle is rather pricey. And shuttles always want to get to the airport so much earlier than I want to get there! Hmm. But once I get there, friends will pick me up.

I'm excited about the CHA designers dinner at the Hilton. I signed up too late (I knew I should have looked into this last month) to get a goody bag. I hope I win a door prize!

Tons of wonderful and talented people have said they're going that I know so I hope to see everyone. I'm most excited about just taking it all in. I printed out the exhibitor list yesterday (I should have seen if it was in my packet but the online version is more updated anyway). Oh, my goodness! There will be tons and tons of vendors there. It sounds like a lot of the scrap companies will have make and takes. That'll be wonderful.

I booked an all-day session (three classes) at Violet's Rubber Stamp Inn in Ventura. I am in the process of creating samples boards and writing up descriptions. All three classes will be different. I hope people will spend the day with me. I will be teaching "all-occasion" classes. That should be fun! The new A Muse stamps are SO CUTE.

I finished my January DT work for SunSpiritStudio. com. Check out my gallery for the latest Valentines and Spring cards. I love the Be Mine Or Else cards. Too funny. Those stamps remind me of one of my favorite Guadalupe Fun Stamps conversation heart stamps, "be my baby or die." Ah, it just makes me think they would be perfect for some junior high school girl to give. Or perhaps recent divorcees. Heh.

I got a giant box of double sided tape and an dispenser today. Wow, I can't believe tape makes me so, so happy! I don't know what I would do if I actually have to glue things down! Heh.

I'm sitting on 30 cards for submission. I have 20 ready to go but 10 more need write-ups. I've just been too swamped to properly write them. What happened to my days of leisure? I need a secretary! But the buzz of the new year is still going strong. I feel so refreshed and ready to tackle whatever may come.

Happy New Year!

I'm so excited for this year! I feel really energetic and motivated. I bought a new blank journal and actually plan to do art in it instead of writing down shopping lists. Haha!

I booked three more classes. It's a local store near me. I have a good feeling for the other stores. I just have to call them.

My wonderful boyfriend gave me a digital camera for Christmas so there will be a return of card pictures soon.

I gave myself four different packs of twinkling H2Os so I'll play with those soon. I need to delve into my many packages of stamps though. I have new stuff from Claudia Rose, Sideshow Stamps, Savvy, Memory Box, The Cat's Pajamas and A Muse I need to play with! I'm trying to resist the big sales at Fontwerks, Rubber Baby and Ma Vinci but I don't know how that'll go.

Resolutions? Use the rubber I have! Hmm, this might be the time to figure out what I'm doing hoarding all those Above the Mark stamps. I love 'em but they're way too big for my purposes sometimes. And use up all the paper I have. Um, we'll see. The last paper I bought was the Christina Cole slab and I've been working steadily through it. But what about all the other things of patterned paper, wrapping paper, cardstock and patterned cardstock I'm hoarding? Not to mention all the art paper I bought at Paper Source and Hiromi? Aiya. Too much paper.

I finally broke down and bought the silent setter. Oh yeah, the older eyelets I have DO NOT work with it (like my Making Memories eyelets). But surprisingly, the SU eyelets I have do. Hmm, well, now I know I will finally use those funky triangular eyelets.

I had a week off and made about 15 cards in one day. I'm still a long way of finishing my portfolio though. I need more time to stamp. Oh dear, how am I going to do that when I have resolved to go to bed early, wake up early and generally get more sleep. Stamping in the middle of the night is the only time I have. Oh well, I'll sleep when I'm dead, right? :)

First class booked!

I booked my first A Muse class for February 4 at Ultimate Hobbies. I'll be teaching Spring cards. I'm so excited! I need to order some more cardstock.

Hmm, when did I last write? Oh yes, the mini-workshop with my coworkers went well. There were four of them and only one had stamped before. And she hated embossing until I showed her how to properly. I think she wasn't embossing to the point where it melted. And they all loved the little brushes idea to take away the extra EP.

They are so excited about stamping they want to do a Valentines workshop. I also have a friend who wanted to do a mini-workshop as well. It's going to be a busy week since I have it planned on 1/29 and then that's the week of CHA. I'm more or less on the brink of deciding of going. It'll be such a rush because I've never been and have always wanted to go. I'm going as a guest of stampingbear.com. Oh, and then when I come back, I teach a class! So...yeah, I have a lot of stuff going on. I decided I can't do too many swaps next year. I'm hosting a stamping book in February but that's about all I've planned. That reminds me, I should post the swap info.

I've been spending some time organizing my supplies. I sold off old stamps and really need to rethink of what I have. I going to have be zen about it. There are some things I like but I never use. I don't want to seem like I have too much baggage when Andy and I finally move in together. Oh wait, I'll never give up my stuff! Heh. :) That's like asking him to give up all his skateboards (I've lost count how many he has!).

I need to go to Home Depot tonight to buy more marble tiles to make coasters. I should find out when my cousin will be back in town. I was planning on giving her some coasters. And pretty much everyone I didn't give coasters to last year. The ones that did receive coasters will get calendars I have yet to actually stamp. Ack, I'm not done with holiday shopping either. My best friend had a baby this year and I realized everything I bought has been for the baby. Ooops. I wanted to make this breast-feeding necklace thing I saw online for her but I haven't had time to get the stretchy cord. My coworker tells me I should let go of some stuff. Um...no, Target just needs to sell time (as my friend Andrea would say).

Time, yes, I need more time.
